Recasting the Communication and Advocacy Strategy of The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago

SXD Leadership was contracted during 2014-15 to guide the Energy Chamber of Trinidad & Tobago as we sought to improve our strategic communication, in support of our advocacy programme. SXD helped us understand the perceptions of the Energy Chamber, and our work, amongst key external audiences and helped us understand what people wanted from our communications. SXD also provided an independent expert assessment of our existing communications tools and processes and the effectiveness in meeting their objectives. Using an interactive methodology, they got the volunteer-led Board of the Energy Chamber to focus on the objective of our communication agenda and how our communications were being received and understood. Working with the staff in Executive Office, they provide a framework to make the work and voice of the Energy Chamber even more impactful, compelling and influential and helped us re-design and rationalise some of our key communication channels.

Developing a Communications and Advocacy Strategy for CABLE & WIRELESS INTERNATIONAL HQ LIMITED (C&W) on the future of the investment options in Trinidad and Tobago

During 2012/13, Cable & Wireless sought to consider its options for its investments in Trinidad and Tobago telecommunications sector. The company had traditionally kept a low profile in the country and in the region and wanted to create a separate identity of Cable & Wireless and to get their story out to the influencers and opinion formers. They also wanted to build influencing and lobbying plan for the key decision making individuals and regulators. SXD was engaged to help create and support an engagement and communication strategy to deliver on this objective.

Developing a systematic approach to Atlantic LNG Company of Trinidad and Tobago (Atlantic) external engagement

In 2011, SXD Leadership supported Atlantic's Sustainability and Corporate Communications team in developing a more unified, strategy focused internal approach to communication and advocacy with key external audiences. This involved developing a systematic approach to Atlantic’s efforts in its engagement with key stakeholders through the creation of external engagement plans aimed at ensuring enrolment and understanding of the Atlantic's business agenda by key external parties. This systematic approach includes a feedback loop which allows for adjustment to the plan and is used to help shape the main public messages ensuring consistency in the external communications responses to key Atlantic issues..

“SXD brought its keen insight and professionalism to the table by taking the time to know and understand our business. They delivered the project on time with the results appropriately pitched to our senior leadership team, giving us a practical, easy pathway to immediately deploy the elements of the strategy. However, the main value of the project was not limited to fulfilling the immediate need of rolling out the engagement initiatives identified in 2011. Instead, the added value came from having a lasting, workable model as a result - one that is still in use today.”
